
Dr R K Kotnala, Founder Chairman of New Science Creators Institute, is globally renowned scientist in green energy and hydrogen generation, solar cell technology, industrial metrology and beyond. Dr Kotnala received PhD in Solar Cell from IIT-Delhi in 1982. Dr Kotnala honoured by Deptt of Atomic Energy, DAE, Highly Prestigious Raja Ramanna Fellow (2018-21) to advise on magnetic measurements & calibration for multinational & multi-institutional INO (neutrino observatory) Mega project. Recipient of the prestigious Renewable Energy India (REI) Corporate Award 2018 for the Hydroelectric Cell, Special Category, in recognition of the most innovative product in renewable energy, presented by United Business Media (UBM) India. He Chaired National Accreditation Board for Testing & Calibration Laboratories (NABL) during 2020-22. He held the prestigious position of Chief Scientist and Head of the Environmental Science and Biomedical Metrology Division at the world-renowned CSIR-National Physical Laboratory (CSIR-NPL), a premier research institution of international repute. Expert member of the Project Monitoring Committee for BHEL PERC Solar Cell Technology, appointed by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. Dr Kotnala served as a member of the Strategic Programmes of the Department of Science and Technology (DST)—including the Large Initiatives and Coordinated Action Enabler (SPLICE)—and the Climate Change Programme Committee of the Government of India. As Project Coordinator, he led the establishment of the Super Technical Metrology Building at NPL, adhering to ISO 17025 standards, which became the world’s fifth super technical lab from 2010 to 2014. He also contributed to a national mission aimed at creating an atmospheric data inventory and calibrating equipment for measuring air pollutants, including PM2.5 and greenhouse gases, to address climate change caused by environmental pollution. Dr Kotnala is a Committee Member of the National Mission on Strategic Knowledge for Climate Change, contributing to key initiatives including the National Solar Mission, Enhanced Energy Efficiency, and Clean Coal Technology under the Department of Science and Technology (DST). He is the Chairman and expert member of various national committees for DST, CSIR, DRDO, Solar Energy Centre, JNU, IITs, universities, and UPSC. President of Society of Environment Awareness & Protection (SEAP). As a delegation member, he visited Tel Aviv, Israel, to explore cutting-edge green energy, innovative clean water technologies from air, and cyber security advancements from leading global firms for India’s benefit. Dr R. K. Kotnala’s scientific achievements have had a significant impact not only in India but also on a global scale. His pioneering work in green energy, nanomaterials, and metrology has the potential to shape a more sustainable and technologically advanced future for all.
